JEDS (Jersey Eating Disorders Support)

Who We Are

JEDS stands for Jersey Eating Disorders Support which is a registered local Jersey Charity providing support for those affected by eating disorders and their families and friends.

JEDS was set up in 1994 and became a registered charity in 1998. The aim of the charity is to provide a safe space where people can share their experiences whether you are affected personally or whether you are a family member or friend who is concerned about a loved one with a eating disorder.

We aim to raise public awareness and encourage education about eating disorders within Jersey.

JEDS is run by a group who have experienced an eating disorder or who have been involved in caring for someone with one.

What We Do

JEDS holds support Meetings at the Pomme d'Or Hotel on the first and third Monday of every month from 6-7pm.

The purpose of the meetings is to provide a safe space where people can come and share their experiences. The opportunity to be heard and supported by JEDS is open not just to people directly affected by an eating disorder but to people who care for and are supporting someone who is affected.

We think that when you're able hear others talking about experiencing similar challenges, it can often help..... JEDS is here to support you.

At JEDS we will encourage our group members to seek professional help and if ready, embark on a professional treatment programme. As with any disorder, it is best to allow the person affected to make the decision to seek help and take charge. At JEDS we provide the support they need to help them make these decisions.
