The Well-being Team

The Well-being Team  (WBT) form part of the Education Support Team within the Education Department.

The WBT work in Primary Schools which include all states and most private settings. The team provide support for pupils with low level emotional and well-being needs. The Well-being Facilitators (WBFs) work on a range of levels from Consultation with staff to whole class work, group work and on a one to one basis with pupils. All sessions are at the pupil's school and completed during a standard school day. Each session can last upto an hour for class work and around 40-45 minutes with indiviudal children.

As part of their involvement the WBF address issues such as:

- poor self image and low self esteem

- poor confidence in socialising

- difficulties making or keeping friends

- low level anxiety or worry.

- loss and bereavement

Individual work with chidlren is completed only after consent from parents or carers has been  sought. This work is carried out away from the classroom in a room dedicated to this type of work. The nature of the work means the session is a relaxed and informal time where the individual will be given a series of fun and exciting activities to complete to help them understand their emotions better and provided with skills and information to use back in the classroom  around school and at home.

Assessment before and after the work has been carried out will be completed with the individual by the WBF  to ensure that what they do will be targeted, useful and productive.
