Independent Advocacy My Voice Jersey

Independent Advocacy My Voice Jersey

We support people who are severely affected by mental illness or lacking capacity, our specialist workforce works with individuals with the most complex needs and at the highest levels of acuity. Since 2006 professional independent mental health advocacy has supported around 400 people per year in Jersey from between 14-104 years of age.

Our role is to promote and protect their rights, improve communication and reduce hostility or fear by giving them a voice. We support them to voice their wishes and concerns when they are at their most vulnerable.

Advocacy helps and supports individuals to resolve a range of problems that they face as a direct result of their mental health or capacity issues.

IAJ My Voice Jersey promotes the voice and protects the rights and choices of individuals with a serious mental health illness or disorder or who may lack capacity.

Individuals with a mental illness or disorder are recognised as equal citizens who participate in society and control their own lives.

Individuals who lack capacity are supported to live their lives in line with their values and wishes.

My Voice Jersey believes that individuals have a right to advocacy support
