Getting a prescription
If you're given a prescription at your hospital visit, you must bring it to us to collect your medicines. You can't get GP prescriptions from us.
The pharmacy is open 7 days a week at the following times:
- Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
- Saturday, Sunday and public holidays, 10am to 1.30pm
We are in the corridor between the Outpatients Department and The Parade entrance of the General Hospital.
You don't need to pay for medicines, unless you have a private prescription.
Getting more medicines
You will get 1 month's supply from us and you will need to go to your GP for more.
We cannot dispense normal prescriptions written by GPs.
Hospital only medicines
If you can only get your medicine from us, we will give you up to 3 months' supply.
You must order more from your consultant's secretary. This must be done at least 7 days before you need them. You can then collect these from us.

If you have a question about your medicines, ask us when you pick them up.
If you have a question but have already left the hospital, you can call us on +44 (0) 1534 442627.
We will take about 30 minutes to get your medicines ready. You can wait or drop off your prescription and collect it later. We have a waiting area.
When your medicines are ready, it will show on the screen in the waiting area. Your name will also be called out.
There is a children's play area in the general outpatient waiting area. Food and drinks are available nearby.
We aim to maintain high standards of patient care and encourage any feedback you have about our service. If you have any suggestions or comments, we welcome your feedback.
